Roscoe Hamer was born and raised in the little country town of
Chadbourn, North Carolina. After his family’s piano was donated to their
church, Roscoe turned to making music by banging on his mom's pots and pans.
Later a friend from the school band allowed Roscoe to use a drum in exchange
for carrying it to and from school. Roscoe was on his way! He laid his musical
foundation by studying the Memphis sounds of Stax Records and Detroit's Motown
recordings. Soon Roscoe journeyed to Boston, where he became one of the area's
most sought after drummers. Here he has performed with such greats as Ellis
Hall, Clarence Carter, William Bell, Solomon Burke, Carla Thomas, The Drifters,
Linda Jones, among others. Roscoe’s music has taken him throughout the USA and
Europe, venturing far from that little country town of Chadbourn.
Neil Miller has been performing for most of his life, both as a magician and as a musician. Although trained as a classical pianist, he paid his dues working seven-nighters in Boston’s Combat Zone. He has appeared at literally hundreds of local venues throughout the Northeast, from the diviest dives to the swankiest concert halls. For ten years he led the house band for gospel singer Reverend Lee Mitchell at the Original House of Blues in Cambridge. He is among the few musicians who have performed with both Bo Diddley and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He has also worked with original members of legendary acts such as the Belmonts, the Contours, the Chiffons, Gary US Bonds, Peaches and Herb, the Shirelles, the Vandellas, and Tiny Tim.
Bill Walsh has been playing guitar in the New England area for over thirty five years, appearing with a wide variety of groups from show bands to blues bands. For twelve years he wailed with the legendary Weepin' Willie All Star Blues Band, which became a regular at Boston venues like the Hatch Shell, Berklee Performance Center and the House of Blues. In 2008 the band was named 'Best Blues Act' at the Boston Music Awards. Later that year the band recorded a track with Bonnie Raitt, featured on the compilation CD “Give Us Your Poor”. Over the years Bill has backed a number of internationally known acts, including The Flamingos, the Platters, the Drifters, Bobby Lewis and Dave Somerville of the Diamonds. For more than six years Bill has hosted and performed at a record-setting Thursday night weekly residency at the Birch St Bistro that continues to draws crowds to hear Boston's best Blues and R+B artists such as Toni Lynn Washington, Michelle Willson, Herman Johnson, Wali Ali and others.
